Veuve Clicquot Cave Privée Brut 1980 is presented in a magnum-size bottle with a wooden Veuve Clicquot box, The Cave Privée has a gentle mousse, enriching foam, which has a lovely nose of butter and vegetal notes - very Burgundian - with nutty, quite open characters beneath.
The palate has a lovely presence: it is steely and youthful, with tight minerality and hints of smokiness and flint.
A blend of 53% Pinot noir, 37% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier.
IWC Silver Award 2009 - Good complexity and a great nose that's clean and biscuity. Crisp palate with hints of mushroom and brioche and a fine finish.
